Dearies!!!! Well, here I am... Feels good to have finally made up my mind at-least about something. Yes, a new blog, the first post and like the title says, I'm typing this from my new (rented) home in Kandivali. :)
The shifting happened exactly a week back and boy, it was madness in the literal sense of the term. Normal scenario (ideal - grrr I hate this word) - you have to pack some stuff, dispose some stuff and move. Picture the real scene (I hate this even more!) - you have to decide from what's to be packed and what's NOT supposed to be disposed. And this process of decision-making needs to be done for each and every item in the house, the age of which ranges from 0-35 years! Yes, some stuff are older than the building itself (that has gone for redevelopment). The problem arises when you associate sentiments to lamest of lame items! Imagine my horror, when I was asked not to dispose off a broken bald doll, who's a little older than Ram. I wasnt given any reason.
Anyways, my name is safely listed in the category you-are-a-stone-and-you-dont-value-sentiments. As a matter of fact, I'm not sentimental, atleast when it comes to disposing off trash.
I was in charge of most of the items, except for some part that I'm not allowed to be a part of. People who know my husband would have guessed by now that I'm talking about not being a part of his "music world". His 2 wives (a Hobner and an Ibanez) and ten million music cds, DVDs and amps and capos and all. I've actually been warned like - ok, if you wanna avoid any sort of ugly conversation/confrontation with me, DONT TOUCH THESE and mind you this warning is more than 8 years old. So let's not go there...
The new house is one cozy nest... Yes, we had to to a lot of initial repair/cleaning work, but the feel of this flat is quite endearing. And this house will be all the more special to me since it helped me overcome one of my worst fears! Of not being able to climb even on a 3 feet stool. But like they say, life teaches you things in her own way. Well it so happened that this flat initially didnt have any provision for hanging the clothes to dry. So I had to climb on the threshold of the balcony and tie some plastic ropes. FYI this flat is on the 5th floor. I'm not talking much about what happened and what I went through but one thing's for sure. I have never ever recited Hanuman Chalisa with so much of sincerity, I tell you. And now, I can look down from a 12 storey tower or moving water from heights and all.
Well all's well that end's well and I'm stopping here for now. In fact, there isnt anything much to write about, since the house has become a home now and I and Ram are loving it every bit.. :)... Will try and post some pics soon.
PS: One of the next posts would be on shopping.

Cheers for the new blog..and sam, we went through the same situation of decision making as wifey had lot of items accumulated over these years.
ReplyDeleteI gave into most of her demands to save the day :)
